Sometimes you just want an ice cream, dammit. You're not going to get it from this guy (or anyone else in Turkey wearing the same goofy uniform):
As a side note, I suppose it could be seen as a sign that I've been here too long that the chewy ice cream tastes just fine to me.

No. Nooooo! That is akin to saying Nescafe tastes like real coffee, and that's just wrong ;)
oh if this guy was from Africa, he would have broken the vendors nose...c'mon is this the humiliation you get .. asking for an ice cream...
Wow! great blog
I really liked this blog and thanks for your beautiful share with us.
Great Blog. I found it on Expat Blog and the video was great. I remember my six year old trying so very hard to get his ice cream - to no avail. He finally gave up and walked away.
As someone who has lived here for a few years, I am wondering if you can take a look at a website I have developed as a service to Turkish learners. The Turkish Listening Library at www.turkishlisteninglibrary.com I would love to get more feedback on its usefulness. I was just reading an Aesops fable tonight which reminded me that I don't want to be doing something that only I think is worthwhile. Anyway, take care and keep up the great blog.
Oh, as well, I added a link to this post in my blog. Cheers.
